The construction work to create Wuhan's largest temporary cabin hospital was completed in only six days -- and it was ready for receiving and treating mild novel coronavirus pneumonia patients on Feb 20, according to officials.

Offering 3,690 beds, the hospital is located in East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China -- in Wuhan, capital city of Central China's Hubei province and center of the novel coronavirus outbreak in China.

According to local media reports, the hospital was converted from a factory in the original Rihai industrial park. The total area of the existing four steel structure workshops in the plant is about 54,000 square meters, all of which was transformed into isolation wards.

After receiving the building permit on Feb 15, it took only six days to complete the reconstruction of the pop-up hospital with the joint efforts of multiple departments.

In the medical services area, a 100-megabyte internet network has been set up to ensure sufficient  bandwidth meets demand from medical experts for remote consultation sessions; a video monitoring system has also been set up for the wards, to facilitate surveillance and management of medical staff for emergencies.

According to media reports, each of the 20 beds in the hospital are divided into an area, which is relatively independent. Each area is equipped with a drinking fountain and an air purifier.

Also, each area is also equipped with washrooms, shower rooms and mobile toilets, providing warm water all day.

Each building is also designed with a special area for patients' activities, including a film and television area, reading area, book corner, snack and beverage area and the whole cabin hospital is covered by WiFi.

In addition, the hospital is equipped with large air disinfection and purification equipment, which continuously draws the air in the hospital into the equipment 24 hours a day.

It completes the disinfection and sterilization purification inside the equipment, and then sends the clean air into the hospital to keep the indoor air fresh.
