A makeshift cabin hospital that was installed at  Optics Valley, also called as Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone and located in Wuhan -- capital city of Central China's Hubei province and the epicenter of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak in China -- received its first patients on Feb 17, local officials said.

The hospital, which was converted from the China Optics Valley Convention and Exhibition Center, has 850 beds for confirmed mild coronavirus patients.

Officials said it is being staffed by five medical teams -- from Northwest China's Shaanxi province, East China's Fujian province, North China's Shanxi province, South China's Hainan province and Beijing -- with a total of 446 medical workers and management personnel.

According to local media reports, the total area of the temporary hospital is nearly 10,000 square meters, divided into three wards plus 12 rooms for diagnosis and treatment.

In addition to the washing area, a warm water shower area was set up, enabling 40 people to take a bath at the same time and the facility also comes equipped with a sewage system, which features centralized treatment and three-level disinfection.

The hospital distributed more than 20 kinds of daily necessities to each patient and it also provided services such as book lending and power bank rentals.
