The Optics Valley Square complex -- Asia's largest underground transportation hub in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone in central Hubei province -- will soon be completed and put into operation in January.

The complex in the zone, which is also known as Optics Valley of China, is integrated with rail transit, tunnels and underground public space. The maximum depth of the complex is 34 meters, equal to the height of an 11-story building.

The complex measures 200 meters across, with an overall floorage of 146,000 square meters, equivalent to the area of 21 soccer fields.

Currently two tunnels connecting Lumo Road and Luoyu Road have been opened to the traffic, while the south extension line of subway line 2 has started to provide transport services. The underpasses of the complex will go into use later this month.
