Singapore expert praises Wuhan’s optoelectronics industry

During the 16th Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronics Expo and Forum (OVC Expo), which was held in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), Central China's Hubei province from Nov 13 to 15, experts from various countries shared their opinions on the future development of optoelectronics.

Shum Ping, professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore and fellow of the Optical Society of America and Society of Photo-optical Instrumentation Engineers, was impressed by the development of Wuhan's world renowned optoelectronics industry.

As the expressway of information, optical fibers can be extensively applied, especially in the 5G era, said Shum.

Shum's team has carried out productive cooperation with Wuhan previously. According to Shum, Wuhan has become the leader in several optical fiber materials manufacturing areas, while several engineers from Wuhan have broken many world records in the optoelectronics industry.
