Huawei unveils new mobile phone chip at Optics Valley

Chinese telecom giant Huawei, the world's largest telecom equipment manufacturer, unveiled its first new artificial intelligence mobile phone chip "Kirin 810" using self-developed natural processing unit (NPU) to the world at a launching event in Optics Valley, Wuhan, the capital of central China's Hubei province on June 21.
The new chip is designed with seven nanometer standards and is intended for high-end smartphones, said He Gang, president of Huawei's consumer business group, at the launching event.
Huawei Wuhan research and development base has been Huawei's largest R&D base in Central China since its launch in Future City. It focuses on cutting-edge technologies. Huawei's many optical communications-related R&D are all completed at the base.
According to local media reports, Huawei Wuhan research and development base has carried out long-term scientific research cooperation with many universities in Wuhan.
In May of this year year, Huazhong University of Science and Technology signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huawei. The two sides will further deepen cooperation in personnel training, scientific research and achievements transformation, and explore frontier science.
