DENSO and KOTEI Automotive Electronics (Wuhan) Co Ltd opened in the East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, Hubei province, on April 23.

Last September, DENSO signed a joint venture agreement with KOTEI stipulating that both companies jointly invest 1 billion yuan ($148.6 million) into the construction of a DENSO and KOTEI automotive electronics R&D and production center.

The two companies will cooperate in the research and development of intelligent cab products for the Chinese market. In the future, car-carried display and electronic products manufactured by DENSO and KOTEI will be produced in Optics Valley.

The joint venture has already been registered in the zone and is expected to have a team of more than 1,500 R&D staff by 2023 and produce more than 1 million units (suits) of car-carried display machines and intelligent cabs annually, generating more than 2 billion yuan in revenue.

Japan's DENSO CORPORATION is one of the world's top 500 enterprises and is Japan's largest and the world's second largest supplier of automobile parts. Headquartered in Optics Valley, KOTEI is a leading company in Hubei's intelligent net-connected automobile industry. It has more cooperation with its Japanese counterparts in the field of automotive electronics than any other company in Wuhan.

More than 800 foreign-invested enterprises and nearly 100 global top 500 enterprises currently operate in the zone.
