Optics Valley metro extension set to open

The southbound extension line of Metro Line 2 running through East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, will offer a trial service from Feb 19, the same day as Lantern Festival, according to local media reports. 

Construction work on Wuhan Metro Line 19 will also start on the same day.

Running from Optics Valley Square Station to Fozuling Station, the southbound extension line will provide new travel options for commuters travelling from Optics Valley to Wuhan urban area.

The extension line covers a distance of 13.4 kilometers, running through Huazhong Science and Technology University, FiberHome Technologies Group, and some other key companies in Optics Valley.

Metro Line 19, running from Wuhan Railway Station to Second Gaoxin Road, covers a distance of 21.2 km with six underground stations.
