Wuhan Open concludes in Optics Valley

The 2018 WTA (Women's Tennis Association) Wuhan Open concluded at Optics Valley International Tennis Centre in Wuhan, Hubei's provincial capital on Sept 29. 

Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus claimed the title in the singles final, and Elise Mertens of Belgium and Demi Schuurs of the Netherlands won in the doubles final.

Sabalenka defeated Anett Kontaveit of Estonia 2-0, winning the biggest title of her career in the process. And Mertens and Schuurs defeated Andrea Sestini Hlavackova and Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic 2-0, winning their first doubles title at the Wuhan Open.

This year marked the fifth session of the WTA Premier 5 event being held in Wuhan, which is set to be held annually each September until 2028. This year's event was held from Sept 21 to 29.
