Optics Valley Chinese Sci-tech City is a science and technology park approved by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council in March 2011. It was constructed in the south part of the East Lake High-tech Development Zone, covering an area of 217 square kilometers surrounded by rivers and mountains.

It was designed to concentrate on developing three industries, namely creative culture, ecological health and international business by making full use of global innovation and entrepreneurial resources and encouraging the involvement of overseas Chinese.

The park has one public services center, five theme parks -- Asian, European, American, Australian and Singaporean, and African -- and one special innovation area for Hong Kong, Guangdong province and Taiwan.
