Construction of Huawei Base in Wuhan

On Oct 10, Wuhan R&D Production Base of Huawei Technology (Phase I) held a brief groundbreaking ceremony at Wuhan Future City. Representatives of Huawei Wuhan Research Institute and Future Science & Technology City were present for the ceremony.

Huawei Wuhan Base covers an area of about 1,500 mu (100 hectares), with a total investment of about 5 billion yuan. The project's Phase I covers an area of 37.2 hectares with the total investment of more than 1.8 billion yuan and the planned construction area of 400,000 square meters.

It will be an internationally-leading modern plant integrating a photoelectron R&D center and production workshops, in total comprising of a photoelectron R&D building, pilot test center, production plant, and staff canteen. 

The base is expected to be officially put into operation in 2018, which could create 20,000 jobs for university graduates from Wuhan and the rest of the country. Plans for Phase II and Phase III of the Base are also being discussed internally by the senior management of the Division.
