CNCEC-WUHUAN, based in Optics Valley of China (OVC), presented its Zambia Fertilizer Project Cluster as a case study during the Africa Industrialization Session of the 10th WTO Global Review of Aid for Trade on Oct 29 in Geneva, Switzerland. The company shared insights on how Chinese technology, standards, and equipment are advancing industrialization and agricultural modernization in Africa.

The conference, focused on capacity building, technology transfer, and regional trade cooperation in Africa's industrialization process, highlighted the Zambia Fertilizer Project Cluster as a prime example of Chinese industrial power contributing to trade aid and promoting Africa's self-sustained development.

To construct the Zambia United Capital Fertilizer Project, CNCEC-WUHUAN implemented a "T+EPC+O&M" model, the first phase of which, a 300,000-metric-ton-per-year urea plant, is now operational. By the end of 2026, the project will supply about 180,000 tons of urea directly to Zambian farmers, with an additional 26,000 tons exported to neighboring countries like Malawi and Zimbabwe.

"Skill transfer is a critical component of the project execution," said a representative of CNCEC-WUHUAN. The company's goal extends beyond building a plant; it aims to enable local engineers to operate independently, allowing the Chinese team to gradually withdraw. As a result, each trainee is paired with a dedicated engineer mentor and receives a customized training plan.

CNCEC-WUHUAN is expanding its "T+EPC+O&M" model and lifecycle service capabilities across Africa. The company will continue to utilize its technological, equipment, and full-industry chain advantages to foster high-quality cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, further strengthening China-Africa relations.
