Ten English-language journals from Wuhan have been selected in the 2025 World-Class Scientific and Technological Journal Catalogue released by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China, along with related research institutions. All of these journals are hosted by universities in Wuhan.

Huazhong University of Science and Technology leads with five journals covering fields such as mechanical engineering, optics, and medicine. Wuhan University has two journals focusing on remote sensing, surveying, and geotechnical engineering. Wuhan University of Technology, Central China Normal University, and Huazhong Agricultural University each have one journal, addressing new materials, agricultural chemistry, and horticulture, respectively.

Central China Normal University's Advanced Agrochem made the list just four years after its inception, demonstrating impressive growth. As the first English-language quarterly in the agricultural chemistry field in China, the journal fills a niche by employing a double-blind peer review process and prioritizing paper quality.

Since its launch, the journal's influence has rapidly increased, achieving JCR Q1 status, while submission and download rates have surged, attracting contributions from researchers worldwide and promoting the dissemination of local scientific achievements.

Industry experts noted that Wuhan's abundant educational and research resources are accelerating the development of high-quality scientific journals in areas such as photonics, intelligent manufacturing, and geospatial information.

This growth of high-level local scientific journals is enhancing the return of quality submissions and elevating Wuhan's influence in the global academic network, contributing to the construction of a regional science and technology innovation hub.
