Wuhan honors four scientific entrepreneurs from OVC
Wuhan honored its first-ever scientific entrepreneurs on Oct 16 during the 12th Wuhan Science Annual Conference. The honorees are Ma Xinqiang, chairman of Huagong Tech; Feng Yucai, chairman of Wuhan Dameng Database Co; Yang Daichang, chairman of Wuhan Healthgen Biotechnology Co; and Yan Dapeng, vice chairman of Wuhan Raycus Fiber Laser Technologies Co. All four entrepreneurs are based in Optics Valley of China (OVC).
Ma Xinqiang has been instrumental in transforming university lab results into commercial products, establishing what is known as "China's first laser stock".
Feng Yucai has dedicated over 40 years to the development of indigenous database technologies, leading Dameng Database to become the first domestic database company listed on the STAR Market.
Yang Daichang pioneered the "rice-based blood" technology, facilitating the approval of plant-derived recombinant human serum albumin injections.
Yan Dapeng has made significant breakthroughs in fiber laser technology, helping push forward the domestic production of industrial fiber lasers.
These entrepreneurs serve as exemplary role models within Wuhan's tech-driven business community.
"I am moved and inspired by Wuhan's decision to honor scientific entrepreneurs," said Feng Yucai, who has lived and worked in Wuhan for over 50 years. He praised the city's rapid technological advancements, making it an attractive hub for scientists and entrepreneurs.
During the conference, Wuhan also released measures to cultivate and serve scientific entrepreneurs. In addition, a special "policy support package" was provided to the four scientific entrepreneurs.
