The Optics Valley of China (OVC) World Snooker Wuhan Open 2026 will take center stage at the Optics Valley Gymnasium of Huazhong University of Science and Technology from Aug 23 to 29. This prestigious event will gather the world's top snooker players for a series of high-caliber matches in OVC, Wuhan.

The event will feature 52 elite players, including all of the world's top 16 ranked stars. Notable Chinese participants include defending Wuhan Open champion Xiao Guodong and China's snooker icon Ding Junhui. International snooker giants such as Judd Trump, Mark Selby, and Kyren Wilson will also headline the event.

This year's prize pool has risen to £825,000 from last year's £700,000, with the champion earning £175,000. There will also be a £5,000 prize for the highest break.

In a significant upgrade, the number of tables will be reduced from eight to four. This adjustment is designed to improve the immersive experience for fans, helping them catch every exciting moment more effortlessly, while offering players a quieter, more focused environment.

The event adopts a fan-friendly ticketing approach, offering a range of options including single-session day and evening tickets, as well as all-day passes, to cater to different viewing preferences. Ticket prices range from 50 yuan ($7.4) to 1,680 yuan, making it accessible to all fans.

During the event, Wuhan will organize the players to participate in city tours and cultural experiences, using the sports event as a platform to showcase its charm to the world.
