With a total area of 82.38 square kilometers, Optoelectronic Information Industrial Park is the core of China's first national optoelectronic information industry base.

It is the birthplace of China's incubator business, the first "hundred billion yuan-output level" industrial park in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone -- also known as Optics Valley of China, located in China's Central Hubei province -- and has the most complete infrastructure and is the most prosperous international science and technology industrial park in Optical Valley.

The park consists of 22 sub-parks, home to more than 17,000 businesses, of which the total industrial output value of enterprises above a designated size -- those with annual revenue of 20 million yuan ($2.8 billion) -- accounts for more than 86 percent of the entire zone.

It is the cornerstone, pillar and driving engine for the development of Optics Valley's industries.

Over the years, the park has always adhered to an innovation-driven development strategy.

It has focused on high-tech industries such as optical communications, lasers, integrated circuits, the mobile internet, software innovation and financial services -- constantly improving the innovation industry chain and creating an innovation industry cluster.

Among the key industries, the optoelectronic information industry has been integrated into the global optoelectronic industry and innovation chain and has become a main force participating in global optoelectronic industry competition on behalf of China.

In the future, from a global perspective, the park will further implement its innovation-driven development strategy.

Officials said it will continuously enhance its independent innovation capacity, accelerate the pace of its industrial restructuring and economic development.

It will strive to become the largest integrated circuit industry cluster in the central China, the leading optoelectronic information industrial base and high-tech service industry cluster in China -- and a global strategic emerging industry innovation pilot area.

At the same time, it will continue to strengthen the development of the urban functions of the park.

Officials said it will also strive to build itself into an international science and technology industrial park with complete support facilities, flawless operations and management, while also being livable and suitable for industries.
