Optics Valley establishes post office

Officials announced on Oct 12 that Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone ( Optics Valley of China) is to be the permanent site for the 2019 World Stamp Exhibition. The China Optics Valley Post Office also opened on the same day. 

The 2019 World Stamp Exhibition -- held at the International Expo Center in Wuhan on June 11-17 -- was staged as part of the wider celebrations marking  the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. 

Framed presentations of some 4,683 stamps from 85 countries and regions took the spotlight during the event. Officials said these stamps will be exhibited permanently in the Optics Valley Post Office.

“The event helped promote the exchange of Chinese and foreign philatelic culture, and enhanced cooperation between China and the rest of the world in developing postal and philatelic services,” according to Yang Limin, president of the All-China Philatelic Federation.

Chen Ping, director of the management committee of Optics Valley, said Optics Valley was the center of Wuhan’s high-tech industry.“It represents a modern and open Wuhan,” Chen added,“and the newly established exhibition site will further highlight its great economical potential and profound culture.”

Optics Valley Post Office also released a special postmark which will now feature on all mail sent from the post office.
