The 2019 National Youth Gymnastics Championships and the 2nd Youth Games kicked off at the newly built Hubei Olympic Sports Center in the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, on June 14. They are serving as trail events for the 2019 Military World Games to be held in Wuhan from Oct 18 to 27.

This year, the seven-day event attracted about 700 athletes, coaches, and referees from all over the country.

This event will help test whether the gymnastics venues and facilities, equipment, information and communications systems, radio and television broadcasting techniques, services, security, and other aspects are up to par.

The event is this year's highest-level national youth gymnastics competition and the largest gymnastics event hosted by Hubei province in the past 20 years. Many gymnasts participating in the event will go on to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
