Construction work started on the Optics Valley Central Kindergarten in the Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, on May 30.

Located to the north of the Central City of Optics Valley and to the west of Guanggu Fourth Road, the kindergarten covers an area of 20 mu (1.33 hectares) and has a construction area of 14,846 square meters.

It is expected to open next September with 24 regular classrooms and four multipurpose classrooms.

This is the third public kindergarten in Optics Valley of China, the other two being the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Affiliated Kindergarten and Liufang Kindergarten, both of which are provincial-level experimental kindergartens.

The Optics Valley Central Kindergarten will provide international-level pre-school education, which is expected to help the zone attract more high-level professionals.

At the end of May this year, Optics Valley was home to 106 kindergartens, with 4,233 teaching staff providing education services to 26,976 children.
