Optics Valley pupils win intl cheerleading prize

A cheerleading team from Wuhan Optics Valley First Primary School in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, capital of Hubei province, won two silver medals at the World School Performance Cheer Championship held in the United States on Feb 4.

The event is the highest level cheerleading competition in the world. Nearly 100 teams from 16 countries participated in the championship this year, including China, Japan, Canada and Russia.

As one of the seven teams from China and the only one from Hubei province, Wuhan Optics Valley First Primary School team included 27 members and teachers.

The primary school set up cheerleading club in 2013, and has attracted more than 200 members over the years.
