Optics Valley ranks fifth among high-tech zones

East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, ranked fifth among the nation's 157 high-tech zones in terms of overall strength, according to a recent evaluation report.

The report was announced by the Torch High Technology Industry Development Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, following evaluation of the overall strength of 157 zones in the country (including 156 national high-tech zones and Suzhou Industrial Park).

According to the report, Optics Valley ranks third for technological innovation ability and eighth for industrial upgrading and structural optimization capabilities among the parks.

Also, on another list released by Tongji University Development Institute and China Finance Information Center on Dec 3, Optics Valley ranked fifth among the country's 500 industrial parks for its sustainable development capability, following Beijing's Zhongguancun Science Park, Shanghai's Zhangjiang High-tech Park, Suzhou Industrial Park, and Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone.

Since the annual list was first launched in 2013, Optics Valley has made it into the top 10 for six consecutive years.
