Innovation, entrepreneurship week opens in Optics Valley
Activities for the Hubei venue of the 2018 National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week started in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), Wuhan, Hubei's provincial capital, on Oct 9.
The week-long event, which is now in its fourth session, will be held in different parts of the country, with its main venue in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.
More than 500 people attended the event in Optics Valley, including officials from the provincial government and municipal government, entrepreneurs, investors, and those from entrepreneurial service organizations.
Themed around high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship, the activities in Hubei province are hosted by Hubei Provincial People's Government, including forums and exhibitions.
Wang Xiaodong, governor of Hubei province, Chen Anli, deputy governor, and Zhou Xianwang, mayor of Wuhan all attended the opening ceremony, and Du Youwei, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered a report on how innovation promotes high-quality development.
Following the opening ceremony, experts and scholars attended a forum, exchanging viewpoints regarding innovation and entrepreneurship in the province, and provided advice for its future development.
In addition, products showcasing the innovative achievements of companies in Optics Valley were put on display for visitors, covering areas such as transportation, smart home appliances, healthcare, and city management.
Activities will continue until Oct 15, when an activity regarding achievement transformation of high technologies in Hubei province will also be held at Optics Valley Capital Tower.
