New schools set to open in Optics Valley

A total of five new schools are set to welcome students for the first time in East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), Wuhan, central China's Hubei province. The schools will open in September in time for the new semester. 

The new schools are expected to provide around 10,000 school places. 

The five new schools are Optics Valley No 11 Primary School, Optics Valley No 12 Primary School, Optics Valley No 16 Primary School (Future City No 1 Primary School), Optics Valley No 17 Primary School, and Tangxun Lake School.

In addition, by the end of this year, three schools in the zone will have finished extensions. Optics Valley No 8 Primary School will have an 12 extra classrooms, Optics Valley No 6 Primary School will have an extra 11, and Optics Valley No 15 Primary School will have another 10. The extra capacity is designed to meet the needs of the ever increasing number of students studying in the zone.

Covering an area of around 29,587 square meters, Optics Valley No 11 Primary School has 36 classrooms which can accommodate 1,620 students. It mainly serves the zone's Guanshan Village. [Photo provided to China Daily]

Located to the west of West Jiaoyu Road and to the north of Hukou Second Road, Optics Valley No 12 Primary School covers an area of around 23,545 sq m. The school has 36 classrooms which can accommodate 1,620 students. It mainly serves the Hukou community. [Photo provided to China Daily]
