Optics Valley starts construction on 3 projects worth $3.04b
Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei province, started construction work on three major projects with total investment of 20.15 billion yuan ($3.04 billion), on July 10.
The three projects include a "Silicon Valley Town", a medical testing laboratory and a medical testing center.
With total investment of 20 billion yuan, the "Silicon Valley Town" is planned to cover an area of 1.48 square kilometers, including an international innovation center, an overseas professionals' center, an international financial center, an international conference center, and several international schools.
Following completion, the town is expected to become a gathering place for high-level workers and high-level innovation teams, exploring the development trends of cities in the coming years and focusing on the development of emerging industries such as integrated circuits, artificial intelligence, internet of things, and robots.
The town will help promote the growth of the regional economy, and introduce more overseas professionals to Optics Valley of China.
In the first six months of this year, investment in Optics Valley totaled 47.03 billion yuan, ranking first in Wuhan’s zones.
