Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), in central China’s Hubei province, held a meeting on June 11, to discuss about developing economy via saving energy and sustainable development.

Representatives from the zone’s energy companies attended the meeting.

Seven companies were awarded at the meeting for clean production, including Wuhan Tianma Microelectronics Company, Wuhan Humanwell Pharmaceutical Company, Wuhan Zhongren Ruizhong Auto Parts Industry Company, and Wuhan Tianyu Information Industry Company.

A total of 37 companies in the city were awarded for clean production.

In recent years, Optics Valley of China has been advancing energy saving work, promoting energy structure optimization and energy saving renovation of companies.

In the past couple of yeras, annual energy consumption of the zone’s industrial enterprises above designated size –– with annual main business income exceeding 20 million yuan ($3.12 million) –– reduced 2,800 tons of standard coal, completing the zone’s energy saving target.

June 11 to 17 marks this year’s energy conservation week, during which Optics Valley calls on residents to save energy and cut greenhouse gas emissions.
