Computing conference held in Optics Valley
The Computing Conference 2018 was held in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China), Wuhan, Hubei’s provincial capital, on May 23.
Nearly 3,000 experts, scholars and entrepreneurs from all over the world attended the event, to discuss the development of the digital economy.
Hosted by Alibaba Group, the Computing Conference is a top international scientific and technological conference. From 2015 to 2017, the event has attracted tens of millions of participants, both online and offline.
This year’s event was themed "Empower Digital China", with a focus on development of such sectors as internet of things, intelligent manufacturing, cloud computing, and AI technology.
Senior managers at Alibaba Cloud, China’s largest public cloud service provider, attended the event, including Hu Xiaoming, president of the company, and Li Jin, vice president.
At the main forum, Hu delivered a speech on developing China’s digital economy, stressing independent research and development.
Alibaba Cloud also showed off some of its latest AI technology at the event, with a machine that can sell coffee and subway tickets more quickly than a human.
In addition, experts from Wuhan Industrial Institute for Optoelectronics, Hubei Software Industry Association and other companies and institutes also shared their opinions at the forums.
Optics Valley is now home to more than 1,800 companies in the digital economy, and is currently planning to build a large-scale and high-level digital economy industrial park.
