East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China) in Wuhan, central China’s Hubei province, began construction on 11 major projects worth 20.62 billion yuan ($3.12 billion) on Dec 6.

The 11 high-tech projects in Optics Valley of China are all mid to high-end undertakings.

For example, HGTECH, a high-tech company based in Wuhan, plans to invest 780 million yuan in the zone to build an intelligent equipment base featuring laser precision micro-nano processing. After the project is completed, it will produce 500 brittle material processing machines, 1,100 printed-circuit board laser processing machines, 1,000 3D laser processing machines and 350 sets of measurement and automation equipment annually, with an output value of 1 billion yuan.

EV-Image, whose main business is providing remote sensing image data and spatial information services, plans to invest 300 million yuan in the zone to build a high-resolution aviation remote sensing cloud platform, which is estimated to begin operations in 2018. After the completion of the project, the capability to collect remote sensing data will be greatly improved, and the costs of data acquisition, processing, distribution and application will be reduced, promoting the development of China's aviation remote sensing industry.
