Optics Valley receives investment from 3 foreign companies

East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley) in Wuhan, Hubei province signed projects worth 5.12 billion yuan ($783.46 million) with three foreign companies on Sept 8.

Wuhan held a series of investment promotion activities from Sept 8 to 9. The three projects were signed at the Investment Promotion Conference for Fortune Global 500 and World-renowned Foreign Companies.

According to the agreements, FiberHome Fujikura Optic-Fiber Technology Co is to invest 1 billion yuan in Optics Valley to build a production base for optical fiber preforms. 

FiberHome Fujikura Optic-Fiber Technology Co Ltd, whose main business is production and sales of optical fiber preforms, was jointly established in Optics Valley by Japan's Fujikura Ltd and Wuhan’s FiberHome Technologies Group. 

Plastic Omnium Auto Inergy will invest 120 million yuan in the zone to build a fuel system research and development base, which will also be the company’s only R&D test base in China. 

With its headquarters in Paris, France, Plastic Omnium Auto Inergy is the world-leading provider of plastic fuel tank systems and SCR systems, and it established a production base for plastic fuel tank systems in Optics Valley in 2016.

IKEA Centres, one of the core business areas of IKEA Group with headquarters in the Netherlands, is to invest 4 billion yuan in Optics Valley to build a shopping mall -- LIVAT Centre.
