Optics Valley encourages private sector

East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley) in Wuhan, Hubei province, hosted a conference on Aug 2 to promote the growth of the private sector. More than 300 representatives from the zone’s companies and institutions attended the conference.

At the conference, 15 private companies and 15 entrepreneurs were honored for their contributions to the development of the zone’s private sector.

Eight projects signed contracts at the conference, with total investment of over 20 billion yuan ($2.97 billion), covering areas including artificial intelligence, the internet, e-commerce, finance and photoelectronics.

Cheng Yongwen, a member of Wuhan municipal standing committee, said that Optics Valley aims to become a gathering place for the private sector in Wuhan and a powerful force to promote the construction of a National Innovation Demonstration Zone and National Free Trade Zone.

East Lake High-tech Development Zone will lay more emphasis on talent introduction, and give priority to developing information technology, healthcare, technology, finance, and the intelligent manufacturing industries.
