On Feb 20, the Wuhan Optics Valley Winter Sports Equipment Institute was established in the Biolake of Optics Valley. Wuhan Optics Valley Baoyi Tech (Optics Valley Baoyi) will work together with the key sports engineering laboratories of the General Administration of Sport to develop and promote winter and outdoor sports equipment as well as power batteries.

After China succeeded in the bid of the 2022 Olympic Winter Games the target of driving 300 million people to join in winter sports was set up. The goal is to make winter sports more popular, encourage more people to play winter sports and even improve their competitive level.

As an innovative platform for collaboration between a scientific research institute and an enterprise, the institute will use Optics Valley Baoyi’s patented products such as “flexible heating film” to develop and promote winter and outdoor sports equipment, rescue equipment, health care and rehabilitation equipment, and electric heating products based on psychro-environment technology and power batteries.

At present, Optics Valley Baoyi owns 22 national invention and utility mode patents. It recently decided to move its headquarters and research center from Xiamen to Wuhan, and to introduce cutting-edge technologies like 3D printing to advance scientific research and create marketable products.
